OVH Advance-1 Germany 10G AMD 4244P Benchmark
I’d been getting rejected for OVH tax exemption for a long time. Yesterday I heard about their new promotion and couldn’t resist trying again, and finally managed to register successfully.
OVH is a global leading cloud computing and infrastructure provider headquartered in France. Its main offerings include dedicated servers, cloud servers, public cloud, VPS, domains, DDoS protection, object storage, backup solutions, and enterprise networking services. It’s widely popular for transparent pricing, strong DDoS mitigation, and data centers across the globe. However, VAT is included by default, and OVH has explicitly stated it’s not keen on Chinese customers, so registering with tax exemption is relatively difficult. OVH frequently launches promotional servers, sometimes with a bit of “lottery” luck where you can get better specs than the default configuration, so it stays highly sought after.
Recently OVH rolled out a bandwidth upgrade: the KS series is now 500Mbps, the SYS series is 1Gbps (with a 2Gbps option), and the Advance series has added a 3Gbps bandwidth option. For the ADV series, 3Gbps has become the standard configuration with no setup fee (promotion only) and includes a 25G internal network. I couldn’t resist and jumped in. I’ll explore some 25G LAN use cases over the weekend when I have time.
