A community for self-hosting and developers
Here’s a new community we’re building that I’d like to recommend — ByteCook (字节小炒).
🔗 URL: https://bytecook.io
Our Positioning
ByteCook is a comprehensive community for self-hosting enthusiasts, developers, programming discussion, and server/host hobbyists(买鸡党).
Here, you can:
- Share and discuss your self-hosting projects or Docker deployment experiences;
- Exchange tips on setting up software and services of all kinds;
- Dive into software development, open-source tools, architecture optimization, and other technical topics;
- Post or follow the latest VPS / server deals and promotions;
In one sentence:
A hands-on focused tech community where you can both tinker and talk.
Our Philosophy
We’ve learned a lot from many excellent communities (especially V2EX). In terms of design and atmosphere, ByteCook aims to carry forward the spirit of “rational discussion + technical sharing + community self-governance”.
At the same time, we’re more focused on:
Self-hosting, developers, and infrastructure tinkering.
We believe that a simple community + professional discussion is what truly lets hands-on developers express themselves, learn, and create more freely. We hope this can be a place for you to share projects, record ideas, and meet like-minded people.

Why the Name “Byte Stir-fry”
The name was inspired by a random moment. When we flipped open a notebook and saw the word “cook”, we thought:
Developers are like chefs, using code, tools, and ideas to constantly whip up their own little stir-fries.
Every project, every idea, is a sizzling plate of byte stir-fry. We hope this becomes the place where you can “cook up your own great dish”.
